It has a big opening that lets you neatly feed all your HDMI cables, speaker wires, and power cords (for low voltage stuff only, remember!) from your devices down behind the wall, hiding them completely.
You can even choose to install it with the opening facing up or down, depending on where your gear is.
It's made from tough, non-breakable ABS plastic, so it's durable, and it's even ETL listed for safety in the US and Canada.
