Mechanics working on Detroit Diesel DD13, DD15, or DD16 engines, this tool kit is essential.
It includes two specialized tools.
First, a 19mm high-pressure fuel line socket (alternative to OEM J-48770).
It's designed to fit the union nuts on those tough fuel lines, and you need to use it with a 3/8-inch drive wobble extension.
Second, you get two engine brake (Jake brake) adjustment tools – basically feeler gauges measuring 4.1mm and 4.6mm.
They're used to set the lash (gap) on the engine brake rocker arms.
Which one you use depends on your engine's serial number: older DD15/DD16 (before HDE0077481) and DD13 (before HDE0079072) use the 4.1mm tool.
Newer ones use the 4.6mm tool.
These replace OEM parts W470589022300 and W470589042300.
The process involves setting exhaust valve lash first, then using these gauges at specific points in the firing order.
